I forgot to tell you that my new uncle got his name! It is Oakley. Thanks for all your suggestions, my grandma liked hearing them. :)

Goodbye sweet friend

Our dear brave friend Snickers will be greatly missed. Sending lots of love and hugs to her parents and her siblings: Butchy, Ruby, Scuby and Sylvester.

The picture above is from their blog, and I just want to share one more picture of Snickers - she modelled the costume that her mama made for me before they sent it on to me. I just think she looks so beautiful in it, and knew you would all enjoy it too.

Where am I?

Hi friends! I am sorry I have not been around much. We had my other Aunt and Uncle visiting this past weekend, and work stuff and house stuff... we have been busy pugs! Just kidding, only mom and dad have been busy. Anyway - I am fully intending on getting my mom's undivided attention soon to catch up with everyone. To my new friends that have been visiting - please keep coming by, I promise I will come to meet you soon. Please enjoy these snuggling pictures while you are waiting for me. (And thanks for being patient with me!)

"Each November, Poppies blossom on the lapels and collars of over half of Canada’s entire population. Since 1921, the Poppy has stood as a symbol of Remembrance, our visual pledge to never forget all those Canadians who have fallen in war and military operations. The Poppy also stands internationally as a “symbol of collective reminiscence”, as other countries have also adopted its image to honour those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

This significance of the Poppy can be traced to international origins.

The association of the Poppy to those who had been killed in war has existed since the Napoleonic Wars in the 19th century, over 110 years before being adopted in Canada. There exists a record from that time of how thickly Poppies grew over the graves of soldiers in the area of Flanders, France. This early connection between the Poppy and battlefield deaths described how fields that were barren before the battles exploded with the blood-red flowers after the fighting ended.

Just prior to the First World War, few Poppies grew in Flanders. During the tremendous bombardments of that war, the chalk soils became rich in lime from rubble, allowing “popaver rhoes” to thrive. When the war ended, the lime was quickly absorbed and the Poppy began to disappear again.

The person who was responsible more than any other for the adoption of the Poppy as a symbol of Remembrance in Canada and the Commonwealth was Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, a Canadian Medical Officer during the First World War." http://legion.ca/Poppy/campaign_e.cfm

Thanksgiving recap - finally!

Back in October we had Thanksgiving in Canada. Here is a little bit of info on why we do it earlier than they do in the US and also why we celebrate Thanksgiving:

"In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. Mom was away at bloggy meet up, but we got to go with Dad to visit Grandma and Grandpa for a long weekend. Here are a couple of pictures that Dad took while we were away:

Card Game

Auntie Jenni and Uncle Eric came home from Germany for a brief visit. While they were here, the hoomans played Apples to Apples.

My cousin Dexter was just sitting with his dad, Uncle Brad, and I convinced him that we should play too.

I left the table and hopped into bed to take a nap and Dexter paced around.
