When we go outside from the kitchen, we go into the screen porch first, then out into the yard. This particular night, Chewy ran right out and cornered our intruder. (Who happened to be hanging out in there because someone *cough cough* Dad, had yet to install the screen on our new door out there.) The intruder was a ruffed grouse. Just like the one we had in our yard in November, and posted about here, but we didn't know what it was then.
Anyway, so Chewy cornered it...here he is re-enacting that:

And then Dad picked up the hero and put him back in the house so he could set the bird free outside. The bird sat there for a few minutes...

Then flew away. Later Dad pointed out that when big scary Chewy ran outside, he bird was frightened and flew up, ripping a hole in the screen! Shoot.

Thanks for saving our lives, Chewy!

Great work, Chewy! Saving the pawrents is a difficult job sometimes, but you rock! Cute grouse, btw. :/
Way to go, Chewy!
You're a superhero, Chewy! I hope you got lots of treats for your reward.
Love ya lots,

Way to go Chewy! Yikes, sorry bout that screen. But what if it was a pterodactyl?! Bet you guys wouldn't be as worried. We get pterodactyl around here,(Mom says they're mosquitos) but Oakley eats them. Bol.
Lots of licks,

Oh my goodness ... good thing Chewy was there. Otherwise that bird may have been stuck in there and made a nest and then what would you have done?!? Bummer about the screen though.
